To launch a new campaign, designed to make people more aware of the amount of rubbish that is collected daily in Westminster.

A replica of Marble Arch was built that was made entirely out of refuse picked up off the street. The installation was made up from 120 bags of rubbish, collected from Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street in a single day. The model was smaller than the real arch but would have been the same size if made up from two days’ worth of rubbish. Westminster Council spends around £14m on its street cleansing operations every year and it is hoped that this campaign will persuade the public to be more mindful of the effects of littering on the councils resources.
