Paper calls for end to violence with empty pages

During a spate of violence at league football games in Peru a fan was killed at a match.

 

To clamp down on the horrific violence the government declared that subsequent matches would be played without fans and in light of this the league was suspended.

To highlight the impact the violence was having on the game and fans El Bocon, one of Peru’s most widely read sports dailies, made a “stand for peace” by removing all football news from its paper.El-Bocon1
