Make-up artist. Restaurant hunter. Raver. Baker. Poker player. Boulderer. Is there no end to her talents? Thankfully, our team is going to reap all the benefits.
“Anything and everything”. That’s what Stephanie said she does in her downtime. After listening to her list of activities, we don’t think it can be called downtime. She’s making us all seem like sofa sloths. “I have a bit of an obsessive personality in that I tend to become hyper fixated on learning about and delving into a particular subject, topic or activity,” explains Stephanie. (It also channels into a passion for work that she translates into marketing magic).
“Some of my past fixations have been: Texas holdem poker, knitting, learning how to play my brand-new electric guitar (typical Covid purchase), and baking. I’m currently on a bouldering binge,” she says. Right. We got tired just reading that list. But wait, there’s more. Stephanie also has a secret talent.
“The closest thing I have to that is makeup artistry! I’ve always had a love and passion for it and decided to become certified with night classes during my first year of uni. I’ve achieved my goal of working across a few fashion shows and editorial campaigns. But now, I mainly fly low with special event makeup for my friends and family (and the occasional SFX Halloween makeup).”
These Energizer energy levels influence her music choices too: “I love tech-house music and am partial to a good rave.”
So, we know Stephanie lives and works at high speed – but does she have a vice? Well, kind of: like many of the Because team members, Stephanie is a foodie – a serious one. Her friends describe her as a complete food snob (along with having a tendency to crack jokes and always being up for a good time).
“I’m a full-time eater. Nothing makes me happier than travelling and eating,” explains Stephanie. “Some spots that I’ve been loving recently for anyone in or planning a visit to Melbourne are: Dexter, Osteria Ilaria, Embla, Jim’s Greek Tavern, and Beermash or Above Board to cap the night!”
I think we’ve just found our new party planner. We’re super lucky to have the talented, passionate Stephanie join the Australian team, and we can’t wait to celebrate with a few negronis!
To get to know her a little better, we asked her our five get-to-know-you questions.
1. Which campaign or role in your career are you most proud to have worked on?
Definitely the Townsville 500 Supercars in 2021! I was working across three separate activations for Black + Decker, DeWALT, and NTI. That campaign marked a lot of firsts for me: my first solo managed campaign; my first time travelling for work; and my first time attending a car racing event. Consider me hooked for life.
2. Which person, dead or alive, would you love to have dinner with?
Pierre Gagnaire (provided he cooks said dinner). I geek out on gastronomy and would love nothing more than to eat with (and from) the best of the best.
3. What show are you currently bingeing on Netflix? And what makes it so ‘bingeable?
Seinfeld! All nine glorious seasons. It’s an absolute classic and comfort show for me. Growing up as a kid I would watch it with my older brothers and laugh at all the jokes – even the ones I didn’t understand. There’s something very satisfying about rewatching it now as an adult and being able to fill in those missing pieces.
4. What’s your go-to drink? And why?
If I’m being honest, I don’t truly have a go-to drink. Having lived in Melbourne my whole life, and being spoilt for choice with great bars, I’m a firm believer in taking mixologist recommendations. Having said that though, I do love a good negroni. The balance of bitter and sweet just makes it so gosh darn ‘sippable’.
5. Name one thing on your bucket list.
I’m determined to learn how to surf. With all the Covid restrictions and Australian borders closed for travelling, I’ve been doing a lot more road tripping around the coast of Victoria. Seeing those gorgeous beaches first hand has officially led me to believe that it would be a reaaaal shame to let all those waves go to waste!
