Meet Rachel Potter, our newest Account Manager in Australia

Uncategorized

You know what it’s like when you head out to a party, and tell yourself you’re only going to hang around for an hour or so, but then it’s such a rager that you end up staying until like 4am?

That’s basically what our world-traveler Account Manager Rachel Potter did when she moved to Australia from the UK four years ago. She’d only planned to stay in the land down under for a year, but she’s been keeping the party going now for almost half a decade.

Rachel has been working for Because in various roles for three of those years: on the ground at events as a Brand Ambassador, Event Manager and photographer. In February of this year, she joined our Sydney office as a Senior Account Exec, and she’s already been promoted to Account Manager.

When she isn’t killing it at the office, you can find her travelling (she recently went on a four-week trip around Europe), forcing you to be the star of her next photo shoot (she is a self-confessed Insta-fiend) or whipping up a tasty batch of brownies. Yum.

So what else is there to learn about this uber talented woman? We sat down and asked her our five get-to-know-you questions:

1. Which campaign in your career are you most proud to have worked on?

The Agricultural Show. It was my first big campaign with Because and had so many different working elements to it that seeing it go live was amazing. Three shows later and it’s now my baby!

2. Which person, dead or alive, would you love to have dinner with?

David Attenborough. Between his travel stories and his voice, there’s no way it could be a boring dinner party

3. What show are you currently bingeing on Netflix?

The Bodyguard! I walked into the office the other day and everyone was talking about it! We all know a good TV show is one you can have that ‘OMG, I can’t believe that happened’ moment with your friends the next day. It’s addictive and what can I say as a Pom – I love a good British TV series!

4. What’s your go-to drink?

Gin and tonic! It’s the perfect summer drink and so versatile. Dry, spicy, fruity, floral – the list goes on. Not to mention its ‘good for you’ – that’s what I tell myself at least! And I’ll never turn down an after-work beer. There’s free beer on tap at our offices – so why would you say no!

5. Name one thing on your bucket list.

I love to travel and whilst saying visiting every country in the world would be awesome it’s a little unrealistic. So my partner and I have set the challenge of 30 countries by 30. He’s definitely doing better than I am with only two countries left before his big 3-0. I still have 8 to go!
