Meet Patrick Hammond, our new Assistant Accountant

Uncategorized

As an account-balancing wizard and IT guru, Patrick is the best person to have on speed dial. Here’s what the Because team can expect from their new officer fixer.

Patrick is quiet. Patient. Humble. But he has a particular set of skills, vital ones needed in every office. Laptop on the fritz? Email server down? Problems with chasing down a long-last invoice? This is where our new financial whizz and IT guru is worth his weight in gold.

Outside of the office, Patrick shares even more of his time helping others – in this case, our furry best friends. “From time to time, I do volunteer work at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA over the weekends,” says Patrick. “I absolutely love cats and dogs, but unfortunately do not have any pets of my own. My current living circumstances just don’t allow for it yet, but I hope to be able to one day.”

In his downtime, Richard decompresses by reading, playing games, and watching series. “I’m a bit of a nerd, so I would say reading, listening to music, gaming, and Netflix. Right now, I’m reading The Witcher series of books. Outside of that, I’ll do online programming exercises as well.”

“I listen mostly to rock and EDM. Like old-school Linkin Park and Fall Out BoyIlleniumGryffin and One Republic,” says Richard. His games of choice: “Quite a mix at the moment, but currently I’m switching between Apex LegendsCyberpunk 2077 and Age of Empires 3.”

Patrick is also quietly building up his dream machine at home, too. “I love tinkering away at my home-built PC every now and then when I upgrade it.”

His friends and family describe him as quiet and shy, and that he usually keeps to himself – but we’ve already seen how he’s become an office lifesaver in a short space of time.

We wanted to know a little more about our brand-new Assistant Accountant, so we asked him our five critical get-to-know-you questions.

1. Which campaign or role in your career are you most proud to have worked on?

At my previous firm, I was placed in charge of IT and Projects Management, which involved planning and overseeing improvements to our systems and compliance. I also assisted a lot of people with IT-related queries and whatnot. I was quite proud of the work that I did at the time.

2. Which person, dead or alive, would you love to have dinner with?

Bill Burr.

3. What show are you currently bingeing on Netflix? And what makes it so ‘bingeable’?

Narcos and Narcos Mexico. It’s shows like these that I keep coming back to. I like the intrigue behind them, and the fact that they have a partial basis in reality. And of course, they’ve got brilliant storytelling and acting.

4. What’s your go-to drink? And why?

Lemonade and Kola tonic. It tastes great and is always refreshing, especially during the summer months.

5. Name one thing on your bucket list.

That’s an easy one: I’ve always wanted to travel to South Korea and Iceland. I hope to do both soon.
