Megan is a renaissance woman: she’s a talented painter, fearless adventurer and creative magic-maker. This Because legend has crossed from the UK to down under to spread more marketing love.
It’s pretty much impossible not to notice when Megan enters the room. It’s not just because she’s a striking, happy, charismatic person (because she is), but she also dials up the volume. “I’m LOUD. This is probably the main bit of feedback I get from people,” explains Megan. “I’ve not indulged my new housemates in my talents of extreme shout-singing yet… but all in good time! Lucky them.”
But here’s the thing: we love the vibe that Megan brings. It’s pure positivity and energy wrapped in a creative tour-de-force, and that’s what every agency needs – she has helped fuel many of Because team’s client wins in the UK. Start talking to her, and you can’t help but get inspired and motivated to do something, probably alongside her too.
One of her biggest passions is travel. She’s been to India, Costa Rica, and Sri Lanka; and that’s just a brief glimpse of Megan’s travel history. Her passport stamps are as varied and exciting as her previous client list as an integral part of the UK team. However, she’s now moved over to Australia, her global bucket list is steadily growing longer. “Now the world’s opened up again I’ll be jumping on a plane to see more of this side of the world really soon,” says Megan. “Right now, I spend my spare time adventuring through Melbourne and Australia, exploring bars and restaurants, shopping, bingeing TV – the usual. I’m keen to visit the outback, blue mountains and all the beaches when I get a chance.”
Her second biggest passion (and secret talent) is an artistic one. “I think this is well known in the agency, but I’m a keen painter. Portraits, landscapes, pets – anything really! I’m going to have some great inspiration for landscapes being in Australia now, and I’m looking to join an art class or two in the city to meet some like-minded people,” says Megan.
We’re helluva lucky to have the talented Megan join the Australian team, and we can’t wait to hear her ‘shout sing’ in the office and watch her weave her marketing magic!
To get to know this Because legend a little better, we asked her our five signature get-to-know-you questions.
1. Which campaign or role in your career are you most proud to have worked on?
There’s been a lot of great projects over the years! The Benefit Cosmetics Virtual Atoms campaign stands out as a great one, as it used pioneering technology. In the midst of the UK lockdown when retailers were closed, we brought a unique experience into people’s homes through Augmented Reality. Users could use their phone cameras to view a realistic, 3D They’re Real Mascara, and Margaritte the Magnet in their personal space. Collecting these led to exclusive content and a spin-the-wheel for instant prize win. The results smashed targets, with 29,870 new users and a conversion rate of 55.4%!
2. Which person, dead or alive, would you love to have dinner with?
Harry Styles. We’re destined to be together – he just doesn’t know it yet. So, all I need is a dinner setting to have him hooked. Failing that, we could share wardrobes.
3. What show are you currently bingeing on Netflix? And what makes it so ‘Bingeable’?
I’m a psychological thriller and murder mystery nut, but I’m taking a break from the intensity. The solution: bingeing the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Glitter, death drops and general absurdity – it’s the perfect antidote to any stressful day.
4. What’s your go-to drink? And why?
A good old Margarita hits the spot (this seems to be a common Because team favourite on both sides of the pond!). It tastes yum, looks fancy, and it’s generally found close by to a plate of tacos too!
5. Name one thing on your bucket list.
I’ve just ticked off the biggest one that’s been on my list for about five years: living in Australia! Other than that, I have a lot of random animal-related goals:
- Hug a sloth;
- Have an elephant wrap its trunk around my arm; and
- Swim with stingrays (safely!).
