‘Holiday’ Penny. It’s the nickname that our latest team acquisition has earned from her friends for her signature wanderlust. “I like to make the most of my time off to travel and visit new places. I’m sun obsessed so will jump at any opportunity to get on a plane. Personally, I think I go on a normal amount of holidays…”

Holly’s friends also described her as ‘kind, loyal and always up for fun…but has a weird obsession with marmite’ and along with deep marketing knowledge, globetrotting experience and diverse people skills and talents, Team Because has made a very smart investment in human capital. One of Holly’s many talents: learning new languages. “I speak Spanish and studied it at uni, living abroad for a year in southern Spain. That being said, I’m a little rusty having not been there as much as I’d like in the last six years”.

The people skills don’t end there. Holly is an adept socialiser, theatregoer, and brunch expert, and it’s how she spends her downtime. “Most of my friends live in London, and I live in Balham so we spend most of our weekends eating and drinking our way around South London. A few of our fan favourites are Megan’s, The Avalon and The Landor

“Recently, my friends started a Theatre Club where we take it in turns to suggest a show and go once every couple of months. So far, we’ve watched two very sassy musicals; one called Six, which was about Henry the 8th’s wives, and then Heathers, which is similar to Mean Girls, but with an unusual, dark twist. Next on the list is Mamma Mia. You can see that there’s a bit of a theme here…”

Outside of cultural and culinary adventures, Holly also spends her time outdoors. “I try to keep fit and go to the gym, but since lockdown, I’ve started to really enjoy walking. I even picked up running for a while last year, but that was quite short-lived and I’ve relegated myself back to long walks around Tooting Common, which is right on my doorstep.”

However, there is one last pastime that’s taken precedence over everything else. “I’m getting married in July in my hometown of Bath, so there’s lots of planning being done for that (and of course, the multiple honeymoons!).

Talented, charismatic, and full of fun, we’re very excited to have Holly join our team. We’re looking forward to getting to know her better ourselves (hopefully with a few shared brunch sessions), so we asked her our five signature get-to-know-you questions.

1. Which campaign or role in your career are you most proud to have worked on?

One of the projects I’m most proud of was Samsung #LifeUnstoppable. In 2020 we hosted a digital launch event for over 5,000 press, partners and staff to promote Samsung’s latest product portfolio. We created a fully immersive 3D virtual Samsung House on a gaming platform, Unreal Engine, which included over 20 of their products from their mobile, TV and domestic appliance ranges. We meticulously designed all seven rooms of the Samsung House to match the brand; from the furniture to the art on the walls. Guests could explore and engage with interactive elements including AR products, 8D audio and collectible comic books. This was the first digital version of the event we delivered, as it’s usually a physical event, and it was hugely successful with amazing coverage.

2. Which person, dead or alive, would you love to have dinner with?

Tom Hardy.. need I say any more?

3. What show are you currently bingeing on Netflix? And what makes it so ‘bingeable’?

I love a thriller series, I’ve recently finished “Stay Close” which is a new one on Netflix. It was incredibly gripping with so much drama it was hard to follow at times, but very bingeable. On the flip side, I’m also a sucker for a trashy reality TV series. TOWIEMade In ChelseaSelling Sunsets… You name it I’ve watched it.

4. What’s your go-to drink? And why?

When the sun makes a rare appearance, I’d have to say for me nothing beats a glass of rosé. On a night out, my favourite drink is a simple vodka, lime and soda. I’m one of the very few people who don’t like G&T, so this is my go-to.

5. Name one thing on your bucket list.

Cape Town is one of the top places on my bucket list. Everyone I know who has visited has given glowing reports of how amazing it is, the food, the people, the beaches (and penguins of course!). I’ve now had two trips there cancelled, so I’m hoping it’ll be third-time lucky and I’ll get to go soon. I love travelling around to different places, so I’d plan to drive around the wine regions and do a safari.
