Family man and sport fanatic.
Gwyn Humphreys, Business Director Because SGP, joined the Because team in London back in 2012 as a Senior Account Manager. He worked for the agency for 6 years before jumping at the chance to launch our office in Singapore.
He’s always found himself working on the agency side with over 15 years’ experience behind his name and loved how his career has moved him to New York, London and most recently, Singapore.
When Gwyn isn’t busy driving our Singapore office, he’s a dad to 3-year-old Efa, who keeps him and his wife on their toes. Gwyn loves to spend his time exploring Singapore with his family – especially the variety of different food on offer – but when he does have a few moments to himself, he enjoys nothing more than catching a live game of sport. Whether it’s watching; football, rugby (a big Wales fan!), cricket, or taking part; kick boxing or running are his latest passions.
Gwyn finds hitting the pads or the open roads really helps to clear the mind and de-stress. Not to mention he’s conquered a half marathon in Barcelona and has aspirations to do more of it in the future. Just perhaps not in the humidity of Singapore!
We wanted to know a little bit more about our gallivanting BD, so we asked him our five critical get-to-know-you questions.
1. What campaign in your career are you most proud to have worked on?
I’ve been fortunate to work with some amazing brands over the years and deliver some ground breaking work. From LEGO, to WWF, Changi Airport Group, Hasbro and The Macallan, to name a few. But the campaign I am most proud of is the work we did with Public Health England. For several years I headed up our team working on cancer awareness campaigns and helping to tackle childhood obesity. Knowing you have truly made a difference to someone’s life, maybe even saving it, is an incredible feeling and something I will always be proud to do.
2. Which person, dead or alive, would you love to have dinner with?
I’ve always had a fascination with the USA and did my degree in it so I would love to sit down with the founding fathers John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and George Washington. It’s not one person but rather a few people I’d love to chat to, specifically what they hoped for the country and gauge their reaction to how things currently are in the USA.
3. What show are you currently bingeing on Netflix? And what makes it so ‘bingeable’?
I don’t get much time to watch TV and I try to split any time I do get between TV and a good book. Right now I have just devoured the second series of Sex Education on Netflix. It was great fun, certainly did not disappoint and it’s always nice to keep up with British TV, so I’m connected to home. I’m also half way through Simon Reeve’s book, Step by Step. I love to travel so hearing about his adventures is right up my street, but also understanding his past, how he became a TV celebrity and the tough times he went through is inspirational.
4. What’s your go-to drink? And why?
It really depends on where in the world I am and what the occasion is. Back in the UK it would always be a nice pint of ale but in the heat of Singapore, a crisp craft lager is always a pleasure. With a nice meal or relaxing at home on a Friday night, you can’t beat a good red wine.
5. Name one thing on your bucket list.
At my age I guess playing for Wales and the British Lions is out the window so I would have to say completing a triathlon. It would need to be somewhere cool to explore afterwards as well.
