Christmas is a time for giving – and helping out those in need is a cause near and dear to our heart, and a fundamental part of our company values, at Because.
So we’ve rounded up the charitable work the Because offices are doing around the world. Take a look below to see what they’ve been up to…
Santa’s little helpers
For the past 4 years, we’ve been donating shoe boxes filled with festive toys and goodies to underprivileged boys and girls in the UK and around the world. Our CEO, Sharon Richey, buys all the items and fills the boxes at home with help from her little elves.
We ask colleagues and friends to buy a shoe box for £25 and all proceeds go to our charity, ADD Positivity. This year, we raised over £800 thanks to everyone’s generous donations. 
In November, we also bought 120 rag dolls to send to two charities in Bulgaria and the dolls are being donated to disadvantaged girls. In many cases, these dolls will be the only present these children have ever received.
In lieu of sending out Christmas cards this year, we’ve also donated £250 to Contact the Elderly, a UK charity that organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of people aged 75+ who live alone, offering a regular and vital friendship link every month (especially important over the Christmas period).
Post-Christmas support
This year, our Australian office is doing a larger than normal shared Christmas lunch with the team and all proceeds go to our charity White Lion. They’ve already raised a whopping $1,000 from hosting a range of weekly charity lunches as well as selling their very popular snack tuck boxes and are excited to add to their funds over Christmas.
Our staff will also be making use of their volunteer days at the Salvos in January, as this is a key period when many unwanted gifts are donated post-Christmas and the stores needs support.
Freezin’ for a reason
MD of Because Ireland, Jonny Davis, took part in the Plunge for Special Olympics Ireland earlier this month and raised an impressive €358. 
The charity, Special Olympics Ireland, provides year-round sporting opportunities for over 9,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across 360 clubs all over Ireland and asked those who participated to be ‘Freezin’ for a Reason’ to help raise vital funds.
