We’re in a New York state of mind this week, talking to one of our newest team members, Mark Waters.
Mark works for Because NYC as an Account Director, sort of like a millennial Don Draper.
This guy eats, sleeps and breathes creativity. It seeps into every campaign he puts together and every client he works with.
Before joining our team, Mark was flexing his journalistic, experiential and community-building muscles working to support and empower communities in Latin America.
He’s a smart dude too – he’s got an MA in Global Communications from the American University of Paris. He’s also worked with a number of agencies to develop ATL and BTL campaigns for large global brands in sectors ranging from hospitality to tech.
When he’s not killing it at the office, Mark is travelling the world, running for his life and learning new, exotic languages.
We wanted to find out more about the talented and tenacious Mark Waters, so we asked him 5 critical get-to-know-you questions.
1. What project in your career are you most proud to have worked on?
I had the opportunity to craft an experience that brought eight amazing individuals from Peru to the United States for their first time. I believe that being exposed to new cultures and ways of living is life changing. To have been a part of an project that gave that opportunity to someone else meant a lot to me.
2. Which person, dead or alive, would you love to have dinner with?
Recently, there’s been a surge in researching ancestry in the United States. For the past several years my father has been persistent in learning more about his roots, which has opened up a window to my family history. Learning about my paternal grandfather’s life has been fascinating. As I never had the chance to meet him, I think I would choose to dine with him
3. What show are you currently bingeing on Netflix? And what makes it so ‘bingeable’?
Well, I haven’t had much time to watch a lot recently, but I think my last true binge on Netflix was Master of None. I love all of the characters and can relate to the core friend group. I guess it reminds me of my New York life in ways.
4. What’s your go-to drink? And why?
A margarita. It makes me feel like it’s summer and I’m on vacation, from the first sip to the last.
5. Name one thing on your bucket list.
I have yet to see the Indian Ocean. Someday soon, I hope!
