Adrenaline junkie, globetrotting adventurer, and brunch connoisseur, Hema brings new flavours and talents to our Because team. Here’s more insight into our resident daredevil.
Unflappable. Fearless. Daring. Hema’s adventure highlights reel reads like a horror plot for people with a fear of heights. From skydiving in Australia and bungee jumping in New Zealand to cliff jumping from waterfalls in the Philippines, she’s breezed through most of the scariest challenges around the world. It’s safe to say there’s very little that can faze Hema. This bravery and calmness under pressure translate into her work, too, which our team will benefit from.
Away from bungee cords and airplanes, Hema spends most of her downtime with family and friends. Both groups describe her as loyal and caring. “I’m a family person and regularly visit my parents in Bristol, which is where I’m from, or I visit my brother who lives in Cologne. I also enjoy going to comedy shows and West End theatre shows; I’m looking forward to the shows picking up again. I’m going to see Lion King for the second time in a few months!”
Hema is also a confessed foodie. “I love going for bottomless brunches with my friends; we’re currently making our way around different venues in central London.”
This love of food has also led to another challenge for our heroine. “I used my free time during lockdowns to finally learn how to cook proper Indian food from my mum. After going through a few months of intense training, I can now make relatively good Indian food. She rates me a six out of 10! I’m hoping to continue practising and hopefully bring in some treats for the office.”
That’s the best news we’ve heard for a long time. We wanted to know a little more about our brand-new Senior Account Manager, so we asked her our five essential get-to-know-you questions.
1. WHICH CAMPAIGN or role IN YOUR CAREER ARE YOU MOST PROUD TO HAVE WORKED ON?
For the past 12 months, I’ve been the lead on an exciting retail project for Genesis, a luxury Korean car brand, and have managed all things regarding staffing and operations for their first flagship studio in the UK. The studio opened in June in Westfield White City as part of a launch into the European market.
2. WHICH PERSON, DEAD OR ALIVE, WOULD YOU LOVE TO HAVE DINNER WITH?
The Queen. I mean, it would be a fancy dinner in the palace, what’s not to love! Plus, she may share juicy gossip about the other royals.
3. WHAT SHOW ARE YOU CURRENTLY BINGEING ON NETFLIX? AND WHAT MAKES IT SO ‘BINGEABLE’?
During my week off between jobs, I re-binged the first and second seasons of You in preparation for season 3, which is soon to be released. There’s something about how a stalker’s mind works that I find strangely appealing and addictive.
4. WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO DRINK? AND WHY?
G&T is my standard go-to. But if it’s been a long day, then a nice (big) glass of Sauvignon Blanc hits the spot, too.
5. Name one thing on your bucket list.
I have a lot of things on my travelling bucket list. My current top three: trekking Machu Picchu, seeing the northern lights, and sightseeing in Japan.
